Weekly Update - 21st February 2026
Happy Friday everyone
The notices and words for Sunday morning's service in the Centre and online are attached. We have our monthly Praise and Prayer time in the Community Centre at 6.30pm on Sunday and on Monday we have our Family Congregation from 5.30 till 7pm.
Something new now. Since the start of the year I've been posting on our Church Facebook Group (if you want to join that, let me know) information from Opendoors about Christians who face oppression and persecution around the world. Opendoors publish a list of the 50 countries where Christians face the greatest persecution. Each week I am sharing some of that information so that we can pray for our suffering brothers and sisters. This week we focussed on This week we pray for our persecuted sisters and brothers in Eritrea.
There is zero tolerance for unregistered churches: those caught worshipping illegally can face brutal punishment and indefinite imprisonment in terrible conditions. There is intense surveillance of people suspected of belonging to unregistered churches, creating an atmosphere of fear and uncertainty for believers.
Father God, it’s difficult to know how to even begin to pray for Christians in Eritrea. It’s been such a difficult place to follow You for so long, and yet, we trust that Your plans will not fail as You’ve promised in Your Word. Bring a sense of hope and understanding to Christians in Eritrea, that they may be filled anew with Your life-giving Spirit. Provide joy where there is sorrow, hope where there is despair and light where there is darkness. We pray this in Jesus’s name, Amen.
